As you will see in this week’s sports pages, the month of January can seem jammed at times.

Throughout the next week, there will be eight basketball tournaments and a pair of wrestling tournaments involving Owensville-area athletes.

Dustin Howard’s Dutchgirl wrestlers will compete Friday at the St. Clair Classic in Bulldog country while their Dutchmen counterparts will participate Saturday in the Fort Zumwalt South Varsity Wrestling Invitational.

Friday wrestling for the Dutchgirls will begin at 2 p.m., while Saturday wrestling for the Dutchmen will start at 9:30 a.m.

Owensville basketball fans will be spread thin over the next week with a total of eight tournaments going on as far away as Frontenac, Kan.

Starting close to home, Owensville will host their annual fourth, fifth and sixth-grade boys basketball tournaments Saturday morning at both Owensville Elementary and High Schools.

OMS Dutchmen basketball will end their seasons next week in tournament action at Sullivan (7th grade) and St. Clair (8th grade).

Dutchmen freshmen basketball will host their annual tournament next week at OES while their varsity counterparts will travel into the Sunflower State to compete in the Kansas Army National Guard Tournament.

Ryan Flanagan’s Dutchgirls will round out tournament action competing next week at the Hermann.
