Jane A. Parres, 70, Owensville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021.
She was born April 10, 1951, to Clarence and Viola (Collier) Miller in Gary, Ind.
She grew up and attended school in various places across the United States, and even attended school in France for some time while her father was serving in the U.S. Army. Jane eventually graduated from Owensville High School, class of 1969.
Following graduation, she attended East Central College in Union, where she obtained an Associate’s Degree. Jane was united in marriage to Ron Parres on Dec. 31, 1979, and together they had two sons, Ron and Dustin.
They raised their family in the Saint Louis area, where Jane worked several jobs, including selling Discovery Toys and working as a bookkeeper for Carmelite Childhood Development Center. In 2005, she started her own daycare, which she ran and operated until 2009 when her mother, Viola, passed away. After Viola’s passing, Jane took over the Moon Dance Farm, that specialized in all organic beef, and operated it with her farming mentor, Roger Hinson.
Jane was fierce, courageous, generous and an overcomer. In 1992, she had an accident that broke her leg in numerous places. The doctor’s overseeing her care told her that she would never walk again, but she pressed on and eventually became a farmer and involved herself in dance.
Jane also loved music, especially the Grateful Dead, and Jake’s Leg, where she was known as “Queen Jane.” Above all, Jane loved her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. She will be so dearly missed and lovingly remembered by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Viola.
She is survived by sons Ron Parres and wife Jennifer and Dustin Parres and wife Nicole all of Saint Louis; brother John Miller and wife Ruth of Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren Viola, Cameron and Zoey Parres all of Saint Louis; and other extended relatives and many friends.
