John Wilbert Angell, 86, Gerald, passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 13, 1934, to Leslie Isaih and Ella Mae (Cope) Angell, in Alton, Ill.
He was united in marriage to Katherine Dittman, July 13, 1968, in Union.
John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of New Hope Methodist Church in Owensville. He enjoyed woodworking, playing golf and driving, as he delivered campers all over the United States.
He was preceded in death by parents, Leslie and Ella; son, Curtis Lee Angell; granddaughter, Leisha Angell; brothers, William “Bill” Angell, Thomas “Frank” Angell, Bruce “Butch” Angell and Charles “Chuck” Angell; and sisters, Mary Detmer, Margaret Kempke, Edna Stockton, Katherine Isbell, Lela “Mickey” Witte and Linda “Faye” Huff.
He is survived by wife, Katherine, of the home; children, John Steven Angell and wife Linda of New Haven, Rodney Angell and wife Christy of Rosebud, Bryan Angell and wife Kim of Owensville, Alan Angell and wife Mary of Rosebud and Ryan Angell and wife Keri of Gerald; and 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 3, from 4-8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville. Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. at the chapel with Pastor Amy Turner officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Howard Cemetery. Service attendees should observe COVID restrictions. Masks are requested but not mandatory.
