John Canfield Corbin, 83, Dixon, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield.

He was born on Nov. 3, 1939, to Ewart St. Aubyn Alleye and Jean (Canfield) Corbin, at Hartford, Conn.

He was united in marriage to Donna Cecile Hern, Nov. 1, 1963, at Pomona, Calif.

John was a member of the United Methodist Church, Dixon, and had duel citizenships in the United States, Barbados, and Great Britain. He was a 1948 graduate of Sherman High School, N.Y., and later received his engineering degree. John was a professor at Oklahoma State University, and later worked at Walmart, and as a janitor in all three schools of the Dixon R-1 School system.

He was proceeded in death by parents Ewart and Jean; sons Patrick Corbin and Steven Corbin and wife Jackie; and sister Patricia Joy.

He is survived by wife of 59 years Donna of Dixon; sons Michael Corbin and wife Viola of White City, Ore., Scott Corbin and wife Tonya of Dixon, and Christopher Corbin of San Antonio, Texas; daughter Angelique James and husband Richard of Tulsa, Okla.; brother Louis Joy of Phoenix, Ariz.; and 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, at 2 p.m., in the United Methodist Church, Dixon, with Pastor Mitch Henson officiating.
