John Thomas Trest II, 63, Owensville, departed this life Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Dec. 15, 1956, to John Thomas I and Betty (Runnels) Trest in Marlow, Okla.
He was united in marriage to Dawn Woehrle, Oct. 29, 2005, at Altus, Okla.
John was a member of First Baptist Church of Altus, Okla., a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited and the NRA. He enjoyed fishing, duck, turkey and deer hunting. He played football at Oklahoma University when they won the 1976 Orange Bowl. He was an all journal blue chip basketball player, an all pro prospect baseball pitcher, a preparatory all American defensive end and All Star as well as All American football. He was an avid baseball and basketball coach to many young men around the area. He was always able to make people laugh and was also a wonderful Papa.
He was preceded in death by parents, John and Betty Trest; brothers-in-law, Terry Crabtree and Phil Rodriquez.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Trest; sons, Micah Trest and wife Courtney of Stony Hill, Cody Trest of Gerald and Andrew Derby and wife Ashley Osborn of St. Charles; daughters, Megan Trest and husband Jared Gunn of Union, Tara Mahurin of Gerald, Crystal Reprogle and husband Henry of Imperial, Halie Watson of Union and Hannah Watson of Washington; brothers, Bruce Trest and wife Karen of Harrisburg, Penn., and Steven Trest of Snyder, Okla.; sisters, Ramona Crabtree-Trest of Childress, Texas, and Cathy Bradshaw and husband Joseph of Altus, Okla.; and grandchildren, Caleb Gunn, Liam, Alexis and Evelyn Trest, Willow Mahurin, Ayden Trest, Lilly, Macie and Noah Reprogle and Ella Watson.
Visitation will be Friday, March 13, from 4-7 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville. Memorial services will follow with Micah Trest as the officiant.
