Joseph James “Jim” Plassmeyer, 88, Argyle, passed away May 13, 2020.

He was born March 21, 1932 to Alexander Plassmeyer and Georgia (Plassmeyer) Wilson, at Argyle.

At a very early age, Jim went to live with his grandparents, James and Mary Francis Elston, and did so until he was an adult.

He was united in marriage to Donna Rohlfing April 7, 1956, at St. Alexander’s Catholic Church by Monsignor Michael Flannagan.

Jim was a graduate of Belle High School in 1952. He served his country in the Navy spending 36 months at Moffett Field, Calif.

He was a mechanic all his life and loved his job. He worked at several Mopar dealers in the area and taught auto mechanics for two years at Nichols Career Center. He later worked at Scego Auto Body and Maries County R-2 Schools as a bus mechanic and supervisor. Jim enjoyed most restoring two muscle cars with his son, Bryan.

Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Rich Fountain.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; step-mom, Leta Stockton Plassmeyer; stepfather, Charley Wilson; and in -laws, Ed and Clara Rohlfing.

He is survived by children, Mona Young and husband Patrick of Russellville and Bryan Plassmeyer and wife Stephanie of Belle; grandchildren, Nathan Young and wife Robyn of Jefferson City, Melissa Severs and husband Loren of Hartsburg and Allie and Katie Plassmeyer of Belle; great-grandsons, Lane Young and Magnus Severs; and half-brother, Tim Plassmeyer, Union.

Private family services were held. Interment was at Countryside Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions suggested to the Plassmeyer family to be used for Masses for Jim.
