Joy Marlene Butler, 70, gained her angel wings on May 5, 2023, after a short stay in the hospital following an unexpected medical emergency during an outpatient procedure.

She was born Nov. 25, 1952, in Detroit Michigan to the late James Otis Bunch and Muriel Rose Hunter.

She was united in marriage to her longtime companion, Kenneth Ray Butler, July 29, 2006. Ken and Joy enjoyed over 30 years of companionship and many memories of adventures on the farm and loving nature during hunting seasons and fishing on Missouri’s streams.

Joy enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and husband. Her hobbies included gardening, canning, hunting, fishing, and working. Joy retired from LSC in Owensville, but quickly returned to work because of her inability to sit idle. Joy lived life with a servant heart always lending a hand to friends, family, and any others that showed a need. You would be hard pressed to find individuals that were not impacted by the compassion and care Joy spread to others.

She was excited to serve the Lord attending church at the Church of Jesus Christ-Belle Restoration Branch. Joy was always the first one to volunteer a hand serving dinner after their services or at other functions.

She was an avid Veteran supporter who proudly displayed her patriotism and frequently bragged about her children that served in the military and fought for our country’s freedom. One of her greatest memories was attending a Trump rally and she was looking forward to the next election to bring Trump back.

Joy was welcomed into Heaven by parents, James and Muriel Bunch; and brothers Randy and Jimmy Bunch.

Those left to feel the void and absence of this wonderful woman include husband, Kenneth; daughter, Kristie Williams of Crocker; son, Kristopher Seifert and wife Nikki of Belle; step-children, Sheila Newbound and husband Mike of Belle, Frank Butler and wife Cindy of Belle; brother, Curt Bunch of Texas; Joy’s pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren which included: grandchildren, Seth and Shane Bunch, Blake Williams, Karsin Seifert, Alyxander, Felicity and Ethan Rutledge, Cassandra Maguire, Josh and Cody Hamm, Michael Butler, Kelsey Hinson, Dakota Peterson, and Ethan Butler; and great-grandchildren Izzi, AJ, and Maddi Norris, Kayden and Kameron Butler, Ryker Hinson, Tatum, Londyn and Baylor Peterson.

For Joy this isn’t “Goodbye” this is “I’ll be waiting on the other side.” She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Visitation for Joy will be held on Thursday, May 11, from 9–11 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ Belle Restoration Branch, with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. with Larry Banks officiating. Interment will be in the Community of Christ Cemetery in Linn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to her charity of choice Church of Jesus Christ-Belle Restoration Branch.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sassmann’s Chapel, Belle.
