Just follow the science

Last Monday, an unprecedented and probably illegal leak from the Supreme Court of the United States brought the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling back into the news in a big way.

When it comes to COVID-19, Democrats and our current President, Joe Biden, have a catchphrase they like to use: “follow the science.”

I hate to be the bearer of bad news for those who are pro-choice, but it’s a scientific fact—life begins at conception. That is not my opinion; it is a fact. It’s not a consensus held by the majority of scientists. It’s a fact that is proven. If you don’t believe me visit www.lifesitenews.com/opinion/science-embryonic-autonomy-and-the-question-of-when-life-begins.

The American College of Pediatricians (ACP) agrees. Their website states that “[t]he predominance of human biological research confirms that human life begins at conception—fertilization. At fertilization, the human being emerges as a whole, genetically distinct, individuated zygotic living human organism, a member of the species Homo sapiens, needing only the proper environment in order to grow and develop. The difference between the individual in its adult stage and in its zygotic stage is one of form, not nature.”

I suspect that most schools do not teach this in science class.

In college, a class I took on anthropology studied a primitive society in Africa from the 19th century. Because the mortality rate of infants was so high, this tribe did not name their newborns until they survived for several days. So consequentially, they did not believe a newborn infant was a person.

Like many primitive tribes, they placed greater importance on males than females. If the firstborn were not a male, the parents would leave the infant in the jungle to die. In their mind, the child was not a person, so they were doing nothing wrong.

Today we know when life begins. Too many in our society refuse to acknowledge this.

In every injustice man does to man, whether it is one on one or societal, the perpetrators do not believe the victim is human.

The Holocaust was one of the darkest chapters in world history, where 6 million European Jews were put to death in Nazi Germany because Adolf Hitler did not consider Jews to be fully human.

Since Roe v. Wade, 60 million babies in America have been killed because those who are pro-choice do not believe infants in the womb are human.

Slavery, to America’s shame, was a time when many people refused to believe that blacks were human. Because they were considered a sub-species, slavery was justifiable.

In 1973 the Supreme Court side-stepped the issue of when life begins by concluding that “the word ‘person,’ as used in the 14th Amendment, does not include the unborn.” So the court — going against science — declared the unborn were not human therefore, they have no rights and can be disposed of in some of the most horrific ways imaginable.

Doctors consider 22 weeks the earliest gestational age when a baby is “viable” or able to survive outside the womb. Most babies are born between 38 and 42 weeks of gestation.

In New York State, you can abort — meaning kill your baby — legally at 40 weeks because the infant in the mother’s womb is not considered a person.

On June 16 2020 a single woman in Jefferson City chose life and gave birth to a beautiful little girl. Our first born son and daughter-in-law adopted her. Three months later, our other daughter-in-law gave birth to a wonderful baby boy.

There are those in the pro-choice movement who believe that it is a woman’s right to have an abortionist sever the newborn’s spinal cord ending its life after labor is induced before 42 weeks.

Some people argue, “What about rape, surely you believe abortion is OK in the event of rape?”

Kathy Barnete is a candidate for the US Senate in Pennsylvania. An army veteran and mother of two, she is pro-life. She is the product of rape. Thank God she did not have to pay the ultimate price. “My life has value. I am not an inanimate object,” Barnete said. “I am a person.”

Join me in praying that one day all life from conception until natural death becomes protected under our constitution.
