Karl Hermann Petersen, 82 of Hermann formerly of Dixon, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023, in Hermann Stonebridge.
He was born on Nov. 18, 1940, to Karl Wilhem and Margarethe (Voss) Petersen in Kiel, Germany.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Agnes Gerke, Jan. 23, 1961, in Elizabeth City, N.C.
Karl served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was discharged at the rank of Command Sergeant Major after 26 years of service to his country. He was a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church, Dixon and president of the St. Theresa Cemetery Association. Karl worked as a licensed practical nurse for the Missouri Correctional Facility in Jefferson City.
He was preceded in death by parents, Karl and Margarethe; wife, Elizabeth; and step-father, Marius Hansen.
He is survived by children, Suzanne Mueller of Germany, Rhonda Trout of Lebanon and Teressa Fowler of St. Robert; and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 12, from 10–11 a.m. in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with funeral services following with Father William Korte, St. Theresa Catholic Church officiating.
Interment with full military honors will be in the St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery near Dixon.
Memorial suggested to the St. Theresa Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
