I now have a granddaughter in the “terrific” twos. You read that right — terrific, not terrible. Of course, it is at age two that children begin to extend their boundaries.
On the other end, all children — no matter their age— are little sponges. They soak up what their parents and other adults around them say. If you believe they are terrible, they are more than happy to oblige you.
In 1985, motivational speaker and author Zig Ziglar wrote “Raising Positive Kids in a Negative World.” One of Ziglar’s famous quotes is, “You are what you are and where you are because of what has gone into your mind.”
If you want to change how your kids act, change what goes into their minds. You can do this by bragging about them in front of other adults and telling them how much you appreciate them.
Children are like computers, if you want to change how they act — their output —you change the input with more praise and encouragement.
How many of you with children repeatedly tell them they are no good and they will never amount to anything?
This same principle works in society.
It is the left wing of the Democrat party that continually puts down our country, seeking to change the story of America from one of greatness to evil.
You may have raised your children to be positive and believe in American greatness. Once they leave home, higher education and Progressives try to destroy that image.
Texas Democratic Representative Beto O’Rourke is a good example. In 2019 he said, “this is a country that has been defined by foundational systemic endemic racism since the very founding of this country.”
Missouri Representative Cori Bush also hates America. She tweeted on July 4, 2021, “This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free.” To refute this claim, one only needs to look at her life. Bush grew up poor, became a nurse and now represents a district that has not had a white representative in over 50 years.
My parents raised me to believe that failure was my responsibility. Progressives now teach minorities they are not to blame — it is systemic racism. It is the system against them and there is nothing they can do.
As Ben Shapiro puts it, “Failures are no longer individual, but systemic. In fact, every failure becomes an additional brick in the wall of evidence against America.”
The ultimate goal for Progressives is to tear down our current system of government, tear down America and move to communism. They want to kill America as we know it.
Not long ago, the Democrats saw America as a force for good. Democrat icons from the 1960s were patriots who loved their country. Now the Democrat party considers this country irreparably unfair and oppressive. Where are today’s Democrat leaders who are patriots and believe in America?
This push by the far left has resulted in a significant drop in patriotism among young adults. The New York Times reported in 2018 that 69 percent of progressive Democrats are ashamed of being American.
According to the Washington Post, a Swedish survey in 2013 found that people from the United Kingdom, America, Canada and Australia, as well as certain Latin American countries, were “most likely to embrace a racially diverse neighbor.”
Evidence of this is visible in that the fastest growing race in America is mixed — one in ten babies born in the U.S. are of mixed race.
A list of the 25 most racist countries in the world, published in 2015 by Insider Monkey are: (from 1 to 25) India, Lebanon, Bahrian, Libya, Egypt, Philippines, Kuwait, Palestine, South Africa, South Korea, Malaysia, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Ecuador, Algeria, Pakistan, Yemen, Hong Kong, Russia, Thailand, Cyprus, Turkey, Morocco and Japan.
Progressives would have us believe that the U.S. is number one.
Actor Morgan Freeman was right when he told Mike Wallace on the CBS News program 60 Minutes that the way to end racism is to “stop talking about it,” stop referring to everyone by race, stop obsessing over it.
Let’s all help our children and grandchildren to see the United States of America for what it is, the greatest country in the world.
