Area emergency services agencies responded to two injury crashes on Labor Day.
The national holiday began with a 2:54 a.m. call for a motorcyclist who had run off County Line Road near Hollander Road. John H. Hawk, 43, Rosebud, was driving a 2003 Harley Davidson Sportster XL1200 north on County Line Road when he traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck the ditch, and was ejected, according to the Troop F Missouri State Highway Patrol report filed by Trooper B.C. Bridges.
He was not wearing a helmet and was flown by ARCH air ambulance for treatment at Mercy Hospital St. Louis. The motorcycle was removed from the scene by Triple L Towing.
Members of the Gerald-Rosebud Fire Protection District responded to the call.
At 11:40 a.m. on Monday, Owensville Fire Department personnel responded to Brick Church Road at Mt. Sterling Road for a report of a teenage motorist involved in a utility vehicle crash.
Fire Chief Jeff Arnold reported a 15-year-old male was suffering from a “large, deep laceration” to the rib-cage area.
Owensville Area Ambulance District personnel would transport the juvenile to Mercy Hospital Washington for treatment of what was described as “serious” injuries in the MSHP report filed by Cpl. M.A. Dickins. The youth was not identified in the crash report other than that he was from Union.
According to the MSHP report, the teen was driving a 2016 Polaris Ranger east on Brick Church Road when he lost control and overturned in the middle of the gravel road. He was not wearing a safety device and told Arnold he had been trapped briefly beneath the Ranger.
The MSHP no longer identifies juveniles involved in motor vehicle crashes.
A Hermann man received minor injuries in a 10:10 p.m. crash Sept. 5 on Route E, a tenth of a mile east of Lone Grove School Road in the northeast portion of the county.
According to the MSHP report filed by Trooper B.R. Lange, Richard J. Marsch, 25, was driving a 2017 Mazda 6 east on Route E when he went off the right side of the roadway. He over-corrected causing the vehicle to travel off the left side of the road. The Mazda went into the ditch and struck a tree.
Marsch, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported by Hermann Area Ambulance District personnel for treatment of minor injuries to Mercy Hospital Washington. Haggedorn Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
