Landwehr challenges Justus for mayor

Posted

Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 5 p.m. the deadline came to sign up as a candidate for the municipal election in April. Two men threw their hat into the ring this week.

Brad Landwehr, 1216 S. Bernhardt, filed his intention to run for mayor. Corey Novotney, incumbent, filed to run as Ward 2 Alderman.

Annette Justus had earlier filed for the mayoral spot. Current Ward 1 Alderman Angela Koepke has also filed to retain her seat.

Koepke and Novotney will run unopposed for the seats they now hold.

Landwehr and Justus will vie to become the new mayor for Gerald. The current mayor, Hillary Ward, did not seek reelection.

Landwehr challenged Ward in the 2019 election, but received 45 votes compared to Ward’s 121 total.

Incumbent Nick Grube was the only candidate to file for the Gerald-Rosebud Fire Protection District.

In the Gerald Ambulance District, Otis Schulte will challenge incumbent Gary Koepke, while Amanda Miles will run unopposed for the seat being vacated by Diane Angell.
