Lester “Pete” Mervin Hafner, Jr., 51, Kansas City, passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at North Kansas City Hospital.

He was born May 14, 1970, to Lester Mervin Hafner, Sr. and Mary Elvira Rhodes in Jefferson City.

He was united in marriage to Tina Raquel Smith Aug. 8, 2006, in Hermann.

Pete enjoyed hunting, boating, camping, fishing, riding county roads and just spending time with family and friends. He was a friend to all and never met a stranger. Pete was a proud husband, father, papa, sibling, and son.

He is survived by parents Lester Sr. and Mary of Red Bird; wife, Tina of Kansas City; father-in-law Bill and wife Valerie Smith of St. Mary’s W.Va.; children Samantha and husband Tyler Limberg and Cole and wife Crystal Hafner all of Owensville and Ciara Medlock of Kansas City; brother Wes Hafner of Red Bird; sisters Teresa and husband Ron Durre of Ill. and Kaylyn Hafner and fiancé Jim Liacone of Bland; grandchildren, Chance and Cheyenne Limberg, Barrett Hafner and expecting a fourth in March.

Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 23 from 4-8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel, Owensville.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Roth officiating. Burial will be in Schaning Cemetery, Summerfield.
