Library will reopen Thursday

Posted

After a series of unfortunate events, the board of directors of the Gerald Area Library made the decision to close the library unless more volunteers could be found.

A group of new volunteers stepped forward, which will allow the library to reopen Thursday, Feb. 9, better than ever. New hours will be Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m to 5 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Three new volunteers were trained in January and more will be trained this week.

Plans are in progress to bring back story/craft time for school age children.

A fund-raising Paint N Sip will be by the library Friday, Feb. 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Legion Hall. Local artist Tammy Curtis will lead the event.

Curtis will also help offer painting classes at the library beginning in March. This is the start of many new and exciting programs the library will offer. Some of the new programs at the library. Some of these will be free and for others, there will be a fee.

In addition to checking out books, the Gerald library has much more to offer. These include: providing copies, public use computers, a large used-book store, board games, a well-equipped kids area, a seating area with newspapers and coffee, and a treasures table where you can always find something you can’t live without.

Stop in and see how the library is changing.
