Limberg, Gibson lead 10 R-2 medalists

Kicking off the first of five races last Tuesday in the Owensville Cross Country Invitational on the Gasconade County R-2 Campus, Dutchgirl eighth-grader Ilene Limberg looked to return to her winning ways after finishing second the previous Tuesday at Hermann.

Holding off Union’s Viola Johanson, Limberg won the middle school girls race with a first-place time of 13:48.67.

Other OMS Dutchgirls helping them to a team title breaking a tie with Sullivan were Lauren Kandlbinder (20th), Abbie Gibson (21st), Aubrey Carey (26th), Katie Schnelting (32nd), Elaina Lebish (33rd) and Arianna Baguio (42nd).

Also running for Owensville outside of the team’s top seven were Ella Adkison-Farmer (48th), Hannah Keeler (49th), Chloe Tune (50th), Lorelai McDaniel (55th), Brianna Beckerman (62nd), Anna Carlin (63rd) and Arianna Booker (64th).

In the middle school boy’s race, Derek Carey led the OMS Dutchmen with a 15th-place time of 14:26.94.

Runners helping them place fourth as a team included Corbyn Hamann (22nd), Xavier Bayless (28th), Brodie Lairmore (30th), Nick Abel (31st), Drew Chapman (39th) and Coleton Connor (42nd).

Finishing outside the team’s top seven for Owensville were Caden Ely (43rd), Wyatt Limberg (55th), Henry Wood (58th), Everett Hawkins (61st), Aden Jackson (66th) and Dallas Rose (69th).

Kicking off the high school portion of racing was the junior varsity boys.

Felix Guerrero’s fourth-place time of 20:39.23 led Matt Candrl’s JV Dutchmen to a second-place team finish behind Hermann.

Joining Guerrero in the top 15 and the medals for Owensville were Tristan Davis (9th, 21:20.12), Noah Holtmeyer (10th, 21:39.79) and Ethan Harris (11th, 21:39.99).

Also competing for the JV Dutchmen last Tuesday on their home course were Jayden Barnett (22nd), Samuel Nicks (23rd), Samuel Hoffman (26th), Sean Trenton-Million (27th), Andrew Blankenship (28th) and Jim Jenkins (35th).

Going for her second win in as many weeks, Mekayla Gibson passed Sullivan’s Emily Willman in the middle stages of the varsity girl’s race before going on to post a first-place time of 20:36.80.

Also earning medals for top-25 finishes from Owensville were Katie Candrl (12th, 22:32.57) and Kate Angell (20th, 23:10.83).

Fellow Dutchgirls among the top seven on the team helping them to a third-place finish were Kyah Weirich (36th), Kiera Finn (63rd), Katelyn Holtzer (64th) and Isabelle Bruckerhoff (69th).

Other competing Dutchgirls included Khloe McCormick (71st), Julianna Watkins (73rd), Peyton Weinland (74th), Hayden Loeb (75th) and Cassidy Gooch (98th).

Varsity boys racing saw a pair of Dutchmen earn medals for top-15 finishes.

Junior Jacob Breedlove paced Owensville with a 12th-place time of 18:56.18 followed closely by senior Cameron O’Neal’s 13th-place time of 18:56.71.

Dutchmen also in the varsity race included Freddy Zheng (30th), Harm Rademacher (32nd), Trevor Shockley (36th) and Braedn Stone (42nd).
