Gasconade County R-2 Administrative Assistant Peggy Linhardt announced her intentions to retire earlier in the 2020-21 school year, and the board of education approved Melissa Bauer as her replacement during the April 7 special meeting.

“I am not sure what I want to do next,” Linhardt said Friday afternoon on the phone when asked about her retirement plans. “I have grandkids who are involved with things and my mom is still alive. I want to spend time with them.”

Linhardt has been working in the district since 1991.

When asked why the board of education chose to hold a special meeting on Wednesday night when so many community members attend church at that time, she said there were many new hires to approve.

The board also approved the following resignations with a 4-0 vote, effective at the end of 2020-21, including Amanda Elisaia, high school social studies teacher, freshmen class sponsor, and yearbook sponsor; Philip Giacomelli, OHS choir director; Rochelle Howard, Owensville special service teacher; and Megan Shockley, Owensville Elementary teacher.

They approved the following employments with a 4-0 vote for the 2021-22 school year: Melissa Bauer, administrative assistant to the superintendent; Tami Bobbitt, director of special services; Joe Bruemmer, OHS math teacher; Gannon Craig, band director; Judith Martin, OHS cook; Katie Mogensen, RN, OHS nurse; Sandra Radford, GES special services teacher; Traci Unnerstall, OES special services teacher; and Clara Wehmeyer, OHS marketing teacher (with extended contract approved).

The following transfers were approved with a 4-0 vote for Zach Bollmann, sixth-grade social studies to OHS social studies; Chanda Kreilick, OHS fifth grade to sixth-grade social studies; Michelle Paneitz, activities director secretary to special services secretary; Brad Royle, OES fourth grade to seventh-grade social studies; Wren Whetzel, sixth-grade science to seventh-grade special services; and Tina Herndon, seventh-grade special services to eight-grade special services.
