HERMANN — Local businesses including Hermann Lumber Do It Best and Hesemann Landscape and Supply in Owensville donated materials to support Gasconade and Franklin County 4-H Day Camp’s service project.
These donations made it possible for 4-H members to construct planter boxes that were gifted to two local nursing homes in Hermann.
The 4-H members attended a three-day camp at Meramec State Park, where they participated in various activities, including the community service project. During the camp, the planter boxes were built, sealed, filled with soil, and planted with a variety of flowers.
Members of Gasconade County 4-H Clubs delivered the completed planter boxes to StoneBridge Senior Living and Victorian Place of Hermann. This project, made possible through the support of local businesses, provided 4-H members with an opportunity to learn about the value of community service and citizenship.
Also supporting the project were Union businesses including Andy’s Produce, Cotton’s Ace Hardware, Dickey Bub Farm and Home, along with Westlake Ace Hardware in Washington.
