Three days after this issue of The Gasconade County Republican hits newsstands, yours truly will be celebrating a milestone birthday.

Turning 40 on Saturday, Nathan Cabot’s Owensville Dutchmen football team gave me an early birthday present in the form of a Friday night off following their 48-44 senior-night victory Friday night over St. Clair’s Bulldogs.

Another birthday present came courtesy of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA).

That is because whoever did the cross country district assignments put all six Warden Publishing schools in the same location Saturday at the Osage County Fairgrounds in Linn.

Owensville and Fatima will run in the Class 3, District 3 meet while Belle and Linn will compete in the Class 2, District 3 meet.

Vienna and Chamois will round out the contingency of Warden Publishing schools in the Class 1, District 3 meet in Osage County.

Top-four teams and runners that finish in the top 30 of their respective races will give me another birthday present in the fact that I will have witnessed them qualify for the upcoming MSHSAA Cross Country Championships to be held on Saturday, Nov. 6 for Classes 1,2 and 3 at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia.

Another possible birthday present could occur over the weekend after the conclusion of the MSHSAA Softball Championships when hopefully the Missouri All-State Softball Teams will be unveiled.

A certain Dutchgirl home-run hitter will hopefully be among those named in Class 3.
