Lorraine Audrey Dudzik, 78, Rosebud, passed away peacefully Sept. 18, 2022, at Life Care Center of Sullivan.

She was born Sept. 20, 1943, to Roy B. and Alice (Brand) Edwards in St. Louis.

She graduated from Sullivan High School, class of 1961, and went on to pursue a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri – Columbia.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Frank J. Dudzik, Feb. 2, 1963, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan. To this union, three children were born: Matthew, Laura, and Dawn.

She was employed by the Strain-Japan R-XVI school district as both a secretary and a substitute teacher. Later, she was an income maintenance supervisor for the State of Missouri Department of Social Services. She retired in July of 2000.

Lorraine was generous by nature and enjoyed helping those in need through her career as a case worker, as a volunteer with the St. Vincent De Paul Society, and through her own charitable efforts. She was an avid reader, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, knitting, crocheting, and making quilts. When it came to physical labor, she never hesitated, whether it was gardening, farm work, or construction projects.

She was preceded in death by husband Frank, who passed Aug. 13, 2006; and parents Roy and Alice Edwards.

Lorraine is survived by children Matthew Dudzik of Rosebud, Laura Froning and husband Jeff of Bourbon, and Dawn Froning and husband Timothy of Cooper Hill; brothers John Edwards and wife Mary of Spring Bluff, and James Edwards and wife Gail of Siloam Springs, Ark.; brother-in-law Thomas Dudzik of Columbia; grandchildren Geoffrey Froning and significant other Madison Goodman of Bourbon, Michael Froning and significant other Christie Fritz of Saint Louis, Gregory Froning of Leasburg, and Audrey Froning and significant other John Schweer of Cooper Hill; great-grandson Drawe Froning of Leasburg; nieces and nephews Andy Edwards, Brian Edwards, Spring (Edwards) Biehl, James Edwards, Jr., and Sheri (Edwards) Cosgrove; cousins Bob Edwards, David Edwards, and Jamie (Edwards) Barringhaus; other relatives and many friends.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Friday, Sept. 23, at Holy Martyrs of Japan Catholic Church, with Father Tim Henderson celebrating. Interment was in Holy Martyrs Cemetery.
