That is what the Owensville High School Athletic Department had to do Tuesday afternoon when Sullivan announced they were unable to field a football team due to quarantines related to COVID-19.
Instead of traveling to Sullivan Friday night, Owensville will now host Lutheran South’s Lancers who got a late start on their season due to COVID-related restrictions in St. Louis County.
Quarterbacked by Logan Slinkard, Lutheran South is currently 0-2 with losses to MICDS (49-14) and O’Fallon Christian (49-28).
Thus far, Slinkard has completed seven of his 20 pass attempts for 78 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Cam Weiler leads the Lancer receivers with two catches for 39 yards and a touchdown.
On the ground, Cam Offerman leads the team with 95 yards rushing on 16 carries. Solomon Galbraith also has 69 yards rushing on seven carries and two touchdowns.
Offerman also leads the Lancers on defense with 10 total tackles.
Adding to his receiving numbers, Weiler leads the Lancers with two sacks while Charles Helt has the lone fumble recovery for Lutheran South.
