Margery Joann Michel, 81, Bland, passed away Jan. 28, 2020, at Gasconade Manor in Owensville with her husband and family at her side.

She was born July 8, 1938, to Jesse Willard and Orilla (Jett) Cautrell, in Canaan.

She was united in marriage to Vernon Michel, Aug. 11, 1956, at Bland Baptist Church. Vernon survives of their home.

Joann was a lifelong member of the Belle/Bland area and a 1956 graduate of Bland High School. She was baptized when she was younger at the Bland Baptist Church.

She was a beautician in the area owning her own shop in Belle and Bland as well as a dress shop in Belle. She also sold Mary Kay for a time.

Joann was very active in her community and in her church. She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Church in Bland and strong in her faith. Joann was always on the go and enjoyed reading romance novels and her bible, shopping, eating at new places, and cooking. Some say her Coffee Cake was the best ever made. She liked going to the local coffee shops to visit and loved helping people. However, her greatest love came from spending time with her family. She will be missed greatly by all that knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by parents, Jesse and Orilla; son, Brian Michel; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Josephine and Arnold Michel.

In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is survived by son, Greg Michel and wife Kathy of Bland; grandchildren, Adam Michel, Amy Lynn Harter and Daisy Michelle Thomas; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Thatcher, Sadie and Montana; great-great grandchild, Wayne; sister, Peggy Biles and husband Leland of O’Fallon; and nephews, Steve Biles and Craig Biles; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 1, at Sassmann’s Chapel in Bland with Mark Farran officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Bland Union Baptist Cemetery.
