Marie Katherine Segelhorst, 91, Gerald, passed away May 14, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Washington.

She was born Sept. 2, 1929, to James and Dorothy (Stipp) Deter, in Gerald.

She was united in marriage to James (Moe) A. Segelhorst, Dec. 30, 1950, at Boeuff Presbyterian Church in Gerald.

Marie was baptized in 1929 at Boeuff Presbyterian Church in Gerald. She received her education at Gerald Elementary School and Union High School. She worked at Gerald Medical Clinic as office manager for over 32 years.

Marie had been a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beaufort since 1952, where she had been actively involved with the Ladies Aid, quilters and helped at countless church picnics and sausage dinners. She had held many positions in the Church and Ladies Aid. She also volunteered for many organizations in the Gerald Community.

She was preceded in death by parents, James and Dorothy; husband, James; brother, John Deter; sister, Ruth Schoeberl; sister-in-law, Nancy Deter; and brother-in-law, Dr. C.B. Schoeberl.

She is survived by her sons, James H. Segelhorst and wife Brenda (Ritterbusch) of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Thomas K. Segelhorst and wife Pam (Starner) of Kingsport, Tenn.; grandchildren, Anthony Segelhorst and wife Athena of Lewis Center, Ohio, Gregory Segelhorst and wife Danielle of Worthington, Ohio, and Robert Segelhorst and Michael Segelhorst of Kingsport, Tenn.; and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Lucas and Jovi Segelhorst.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 18, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beaufort with Pastor Craig Wehmeyer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery in Beaufort. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church of Beaufort.
