Mary M. (Powers) Bennett, 79, of Hermann, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, at her residence with her beloved Joe by her side.
She was born Oct. 19, 1944, to Andrew Lawrence “Jack” and Catherine “Kit” (Powderly) Powers in Fieldon, Ill.
She was united in marriage to Joe Bennett, April 16, 1990, in St. Louis County.
She graduated in 1962 from Calhoun High School in Hardin, Ill., and enrolled at Mallinckrodt School of Radiologic Technology at Washington University in Saint Louis, in July of 1962, and earned her diploma on June 30, 1964.
Mary spent four years at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis as an X-Ray Technologist. In 1972, she accepted a position with the St. Louis County Health Department and remained there until her retirement in 1998. When Mary retired she and Joe moved to Hermann. She loved boating, fishing, swimming, gardening and reading her beloved books. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Stolpe.
Mary was preceded in death by parents, Andrew and Catherine; sister, Catherine “Kay” (Powers) Webster; and grandparents, Lewis and Goldie Powers and John and Luella Powderly.
She is survived by husband, Joe of the home; children, Theresa (Doug), Monica, Greg (Dee), Doug (Shelly) and Thony (Diane); 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, Ill. Burial was in Grimes-Neeley Cemetery in Jerseyville, Ill.
