Mary Ann Cunningham, 78, Owensville passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Washington.
She was born Feb. 18, 1943, to Marvin and Elizabeth (Hultquist) Sparks in St. Louis.
She was united in marriage to Jerry Allen Cunningham on April 10, 1961, in St. Louis.
Mary Ann was a member of the first Baptist Church in Owensville. She enjoyed flying, piloting her plane with her husband, riding motorcycles, and skydiving. She was a Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church for over 50 years. Mary Ann enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and reading, especially the Bible. She was a member of The Gideon’s and enjoyed passing out Bibles.
She was preceded in death by parents Marvin and Elizabeth Sparks; husband Jerry Cunningham; daughter-in-law, Melissa Cunningham; grandsons Travis Barrick and Zachary Cunningham; and brothers Marty and Bill Sparks.
She is survived by children Barbara Barrick and husband Danny of Cuba, Gregory Cunningham and wife Kathey of Bland, Andrew Cunningham and wife Charlotte of Owensville, and Sarah Luechtefeld and husband John of Leslie; brother Bob Sparks and wife Gail of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister-in-law, Judy Sparks of Eureka; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday (today), Oct. 13, from 4–8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home, Owensville. Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m., at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Sullivan officiating. Burial will be at Schmidt Cemetery, Strain.
