Melva Ann Stolte, 93, Stony Hill, passed away Aug. 24, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Owensville.

She was born Dec. 5, 1928, the daughter of the late George and Caroline (Eikel) Eldringhoff in Rhineland.

She was united in marriage to George “Boots” Stolte, June 30, 1951, at St. George Church, Hermann. George preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1986.

Melva was a member of St. George Church, Hermann. She, along with her husband George, owned and operated the Stony Hill Hall from 1964-1996 working 7 days a week to support her family and run a successful business. Her beef sandwiches, hamburgers, and chili were a favorite of many. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family after her retirement.

She is preceded in death by parents George and Caroline; husband George; and siblings Virgil, Quentin, Vernon, Cletus, Glennon and Severn Eldringhoff and Sylvia Horton, Evelyn Scheidegger, Verniel Ragsdale, and Nadine Gerber.

Melva was the cornerstone to a large and loving family. She is survived by sons Randy “Butch” Stolte and wife Helen Anderson and Rodney Stolte and wife Polly all of Stony Hill; daughters Marcia Sever and husband Jack of Owensville, and Marlene Kottmann and husband Craig of Stony Hill; grandchildren Michelle Elfline (Milferd), Denney Lafferty (Linda Cohen), Mandi Koch (Kevin Wirths), Hillary Lammert (Dylan), Ricky Marsch, Laura Abadie (Jay), Nick Stolte (Melanie), Jamie and Jana Limberopoulos, Jessica Nolan (Wesley), Kristin Smith (Justin), Tyler Kottmann (Kate) and Ryan Kottmann; 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank New Haven Hospice; especially Jennifer, Jeni, Lisa and Jerica for the wonderful care she received.

A funeral mass was held Monday, Aug. 29, at St. George Church, Hermann, with Father Bill Debo officiating.

Burial was at St. James Cemetery, Stony Hill. In lieu of flowers, donation may be given to St. George Church or St. James Cemetery.
