Meta Irma Wehmeyer, 102, of St. Louis County, formerly of Rosebud, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Aperion Care Hidden Lake in St. Louis County.
She was born Nov. 14, 1917, to Rudolph and Minnie (Grossheider) Rohde.
She was united in marriage to George H. Wehmeyer, May 21, 1944, in Friedheim.
Meta was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church since 1944. She was a member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and canning and teaching the kids how to cook.
She was preceded in death by parents, Rudolph and Minnie; husband, George; son, Donald Wehmeyer; brother, Edgar Rohde; and sister, Ruth Petzoldt.
She is survived by son, Kenneth Wehmeyer and wife Lois of Spanish Lake; daughter, Merle Jean Wehmeyer of Spanish Lake; daughter-in-law, Barbara Wehmeyer of Lake St. Louis; seven grandchildren, Melanie Francisco and husband John, Andrew Wehmeyer and wife Andrea, Christopher Wehmeyer and wife Brooke, Jennifer Wehmeyer, Allison Wehmeyer, Melissa Maxfield and husband Bill and Kimberly Roberts and husband Cary; and 12 great-grandchildren, Camden Francisco, Carson Francisco, Baylie Wehmeyer, Micah Wehmeyer, Nolan Wehmeyer, Luke Wehmeyer, Claire Roberts, Owen Roberts, Ava Roberts, Ella Roberts, Will Maxfield and Grant Maxfield.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Charlotte. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Paul Landgraf officiating. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery at Charlotte. Memorial contributions suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church or St. John’s Cemetery Fund.
