Michael Matthew Buddemeyer, 65, passed away April 17, 2023, at the Riverview Nursing Center in Mokane.
He was born Feb. 3, 1958, to the late Kenneth William Franklin and Agnes Mae (Glandon) Buddemeyer.
He was a lifelong resident of Bland. He worked mowing lawns and doing odd jobs. Mike knew nearly everyone in Bland, and everyone knew him. He LOVED diet Dr. Pepper, Missouri Lottery scratchers, fishing, and receiving gifts. He was as excited as a child at Christmas and birthdays. Walking was Mike’s primary mode of transportation and the man walked thousands of miles during his life. He was often seen walking between Bland, Owensville, and Belle along Highway 28. Mike was also known to tell a tall tale or two. He enjoyed talking about and keeping track of his family members.
He was preceded in death by parents, Kenneth and Agnes; sister, Brenda Kay Vandegriffe; and brothers, Kenneth (Luke) Buddemeyer and wife Shirley Buddemeyer, Ronald (Ron) Buddemeyer and Charles (Charlie) Buddemeyer; as well as two nephews and a niece.
Mike is survived by sister Ruth Ann Montgomery and husband Ben of Fulton; brother, Keith Buddemeyer and wife Lenda of Union; and sisters-in-law, Opal Buddemeyer of Bland and Linda Buddemeyer of Palmyra; 11 nephews and three nieces with Chris and Aaron Gray and Kenny and Missy Vandegriffe being raised with him; additionally, he leaves behind his Buddemeyer and Hicks cousins.
Visitation for Mike will be held Saturday, May 6, from 1–3 p.m at Sassmann’s Chapel in Bland. Memorial services will follow at 3 p.m. and interment will take place in the Bland Union Cemetery.
