Millions at risk

Posted

To the Editor:

In a recent issue of your paper, a reader wrote in, stating that Donald Trump wanted to cut Social Security/Medicare payroll taxes. You added an addendum after the letter, stating it was dead in the Senate, that the GOP did not agree with this.

This is not dead as of Aug. 8, 2020, with Donald Trump signing a Memorandum to defer Social Security/Medicare payroll taxes from Sept. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2020.

In addition to this, in a speech he gave on Aug. 8, 2020, he stated, if he is re-elected he would terminate the tax.

How do you explain to your senior citizen readers, your addendum to the letter writers plea, that seniors contact their Senators?

This is not the first time Trump has made threats to Social Security/Medicare. So with all that has transpired in 2020, now millions of senior citizens will now be at risk of losing their Social Security and Medicare benefits.

If you can not see what the future of millions of coming Golden Age citizens is, you have been totally ingrained in the Cult of Trump. Sacrifice the seniors to the pandemic for the sake of the economy. Let them die, and if they survive, take away their healthcare, income, and send them to the County Poor Farm. Throw them in the trash, just like your old McDonald’s wrappers.

How many out there can afford to pay for health insurance after age 65 if Medicare is gone? Do you know what the monthly premiums would be for those over 65 with individual health insurance? Try around $1,000 per month this year for a policy with an $8,000 deductible before insurance pays anything.

Most Americans have no savings for retirement. Without Social Security, you will either work till you die, or County Poor Farms will have to be brought back. This is the future Trump has for you.
