A search, initiated by Gerald Police, has been underway for Katlyn Pierce. Her grandmother contacted police to report her granddaughter was missing.
According to posts on Facebook, Pierce’s family had not been in contact with her since Jan. 9.
Chief Jim Helton says his department took the report and began background work. It was not clear where Pierce had last been living, so GPD contacted the Owensville Police Department and the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office to expand the search.
Helton said both of those agencies did excellent work in saturating the area with information and knocking on doors asking, “Have you seen this person?”
On Monday, Pierce showed up at a home in Gasconade County. The resident, aware of the search, contacted authorities. A law enforcement officer was sent to the residence to verify Pierce had been located and was not being held against her will.
Helton said at this time, he does not believe any foul play was involved in the disappearance.
