Bruce J. Berger, Supreme Governor of the Loyal Order of Moose, was a guest of Lodge No. 878 in Owensville on Sunday morning as part of a five-city tour of Missouri.
When Berger’s year as the Moose Fraternity’s presiding officer ends in July, he expects to have visited 240 lodges across the nation. Berger and his wife, Donna, of Quaker Town, Pa., visited lodges in Kirksville, Lexington, Sedalia, Owensville, and Union this past week to promote the organization’s Tommy Moose project. Since 2003, Moose organizations have provided nearly 200,000 of the stuffed Moose characters to emergency services personnel and hospitals to give children in their time of crisis.
Berger and local Moose members presented two dozen Tommy Moose animals to each of the Owensville fire and ambulance departments, Owensville police, and the Gasconade County Sheriff’s patrol.
The Bergers toured the state with Tim Befort, Moose territorial manager, and D.J. Gruenloh of the Owensville lodge. Owensville Moose hosted a breakfast for the Bergers and local emergency services personnel.
