JEFFERSON CITY — As if postseason football honors from the Four Rivers Conference (FRC) were not enough, additional accolades have come in for a quartet of Owensville Dutchmen football players coached by Nathan Cabot.

In voting last Wednesday by members of the media in Jefferson City and the surrounding area, three gridiron Dutchmen earned All-District First Team honors while another earned a second-team selection.

Instead of being up against FRC schools, Owensville was up against players from Blair Oaks, Boonville, Fulton, Eldon, Salem, School of the Osage, Southern Boone and St. James for Class 3 All-District honors.

Fortunately for sophomore quarterback Logan Decker, there is also an All-Purpose spot for dual-threat quarterbacks or other multi-talented football players.

Finishing his season with 1,659 yards passing along with 487 more yards rushing, Decker was named the All-Purpose First Team selection.

Decker was not the only Dutchmen selected to the media All-District Football First Team.

Up for All-District honors at wide receiver and defensive back, sophomore Derek Brandt had equal numbers on both sides of the ball with those on defense topping the rest of the field of defensive back.

Finishing his sophomore campaign with 80 total tackles, Brandt was an All-District First Team selection at defensive back.

While Brandt may not have garnered All-District accolades as a wide receiver, another Dutchmen wide out was able to.

Senior Cason Gray’s 50 catches for 500 yards and five touchdowns was good enough to earn him All-District Second Team honors at wide receiver.

Rounding out Owensville quartet of All-District selection was junior linebacker T.C. Fisher.

Breaking triple digits in tackles this season with 114, Fisher became the third Dutchmen to earn All-District First Team honors.

“I heard his name called all night,” Eldon Advertiser Sports Editor Tom Collins said during last Wednesday’s All-District football meeting in Jefferson City.

Collins was referring to Owensville’s football game in Eldon against the Mustangs in which Fisher finished with 20 total tackles.

Owensville was not the only area and Highway 19 football to garner several All-District nods.

Hermann’s Bearcats and Cuba’s Wildcats did well for themselves in the Class 2 football ranks.

Similar to Decker, Cuba sophomore quarterback Conner Gipson was also chosen as the All-District First Team selection as an all-purpose player.

At wide receiver, a Bearcat and a Wildcat made the cut.

Cuba junior Alan O’Neal was named an All-District First Team pick at wide receiver averaging over 16 yards a catch.

Joining O’Neal on the Highway 19 front was Hermann senior Keegan Head who was named to the All-District Second Team at wide receiver averaging over 20 yards per catch for Andy Emmons’ Bearcats.

Two Bearcat linemen earned All-District nods with junior Sam Hurst named to the first team and junior James Hagedorn selected to the All-District Second Team.

Defensively, Cuba and Hermann both had All-District selections on the line, the secondary and at linebacker.

Finishing with five sacks, Hermann junior Brody Frederick was an All-District First Team defensive lineman while Cuba’s Chase Ray was a second-team nod with 71 total tackles and 10 tackles-for-loss.

At linebacker, Bearcat senior Trent Gleeson earned All-District First Team honors behind his 124 total tackles and school-record tying 12 sacks.

Adding to his second-team nod at running back, Head was also a first-team pick in the secondary.

Hermann’s Holden Ash and Cuba’s Luke Elrod were both All-District Second Team selections in the secondary.
