Three motorcyclists were injured in the county in separate crashes reported to the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Friday and Sunday afternoons.

A Washington man faces a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge following his arrest Sunday afternoon south of Hermann after crashing his motorcycle.

Jeffrey D. Gardner, 41, was arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 4:14 p.m. a May 21 and released for medical treatment after driving a 2006 Big Dog custom motorcycle off of the left side of Route Z near Route H.

The motorcycle struck the ground and slid after he crossed over the centerline and went off Z.  He was traveling west at the time, according to the report from Trooper Dustin H. Crafton. The crash occurred at 2:40 p.m.

Gardner was not wearing a helmet and received moderate injuries. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy Washington.

His passenger, identified as Shamber Bryant, 42, also of Washington, who was also not wearing a helmet, received serious injuries. She too went by ambulance for treatment at Mercy Washington.

Charges pending against Gardner along with the DWI causing physical injury include failure to drive on the right half of the roadway resulting in a motor vehicle crash, operating a motor vehicle with drivers license not valid for such operation, and failure to wear proper helmet. The motorcycle was removed from the scene by the owner.

On Friday afternoon, the MSHP took a report of a 1:45 p.m. crash on U.S. 50 at First Street in downtown Rosebud.

Kyle S. Barch, 34, Sullivan, was operating a 2007 Harley Davidson Road King east on U.S. 50 when Sharen D. Piles, 79, Rosebud, was making a left-hand turn onto U.S. 50 from First Street. Piles pulled her 2021 Toyota Highlander into Barch’s path. Barch crossed over the centerline attempting to avoid the Piles vehicle but was struck in the westbound lane.

Barch’s motorcycle went off the left side of the road and came to rest on its side in the parking lot of Rosebud Immanuel Lutheran Church and school. He was ejected from the motorcycle but reportedly walked to the ambulance. He was not wearing a helmet.

Piles came to a stop on the westbound shoulder of the roadway. She was wearing her seat belt, according to the May 19 MSHP report by Trooper Brian R. Lange.

Barch was transported by Gerald Area Ambulance District personnel for treatment of moderate injuries to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan.

Gasconade County Sheriff’s deputies and Gerald-Rosebud Fire Protection District volunteers assisted at the scene. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by Triple L Towing.
