An Owensville man with prior felony driving and assault convictions is charged with two felonies alleging resisting arrest and driving while revoked following a high-speed pursuit Sunday evening.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. Evan Hane attempted to stop Daniel N. Hankins, 35, Owensville, after spotting a Ford Focus without registration near the intersection of Meyer Road and Route Y. Hane turned around to stop Hankins and Hankins fled on Route Y and onto Peaceful Valley Road, according to the probable cause statement Hane filed seeking felony charges.

Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety in the two-count felony warrant issued Monday which included six misdemeanor counts of traffic and registration violations.

Hankins was still in custody of the Crawford County jail in Steelville as of Tuesday evening, according to a deputy jailer.

According to Hane’s report, Hankins had an “active five-year denial revocation” in effect since March 29, 2018. He also had two warrants outstanding for his arrest at the time he fled at 5:02 p.m. Feb. 24. Hane reported speeds reached 100 miles hour heading toward the lake community. Hankins came to a stop on East Forest Lake Drive where he fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Hankins stopped on a verbal command by Hane and was taken into custody.

Two female passengers, 19 and 23, were in the car during the incident. No injuries were reported in the incident.
