Nancy Sue Spurgeon, 72, Cuba, passed away Friday, April 1, 2022, at her residence.
Nancy was born Sept. 14, 1949, to Harry and Anna (Finney) Campbell in Sullivan.
She was united in marriage to Donald Spurgeon, Jan. 24, 1970, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
Nancy and her husband Donald enjoyed farming together and provided custom baling for many years in the community. She loved gardening, canning, and spending time with her family. She also loved to share meals with all those who came to visit her. Nancy graduated from Crawford County R-2 School District.
She was preceded in death by parents Harry and Anna Campbell; husband Donald Spurgeon; sisters-in-law Lucille Campbell and Frances Sutter and husband Charlie; brothers-in-law James “Jim” Spurgeon, Gene Spurgeon, Ervin Hendrickson and Jack Shafferkoetter.
She is survived by children Tammy Durham and husband Greg of Union, Tina Hunter and husband Ben of Bourbon, and Donnie Spurgeon of Cuba; sisters Pat Shafferkoetter of Sullivan and Fannie Lea and husband Joe of Cuba; brothers Dave Campbell and wife Terry of St. James, Mike Campbell and wife Rosemary of Cuba, Gary Campbell of Cuba, and Steve Campbell and wife Christine of Cuba; sisters-in-law Ruth Hendrickson and Betty Spurgeon both of Owensville; grandchildren Abbie Ely and companion Jeff Wagner, Megan West and husband William, Ely Hunter, Mason Hunter, Justin Durham and wife Erika, and Sara Carter; and great-grandchildren Maria and Waylon West and Landyn Hunter.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 7, from 4–8 p.m. at the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel, Owensville.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel, with Pastor Gary Mace and Josh Brown officiating. Burial will be at Bowen Cemetery, Redbird.
