Ned Hamilton Brake, 65, of Owensville, formerly of Sullivan, passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Nov. 11, 1958, to Phillip Lane and Alberta Jean “Tootie” (Saddoris) Brake in Fanning.
He graduated Sullivan High School in 1977.
He was united in marriage to Mary Louise McGraw, March 24, 1984.
His career led Ned to the manufacturing of airplane parts; as a skilled penetrant inspector, he made his mark at Tradco, RTI Manufacturing, and finally at Ozark Mountain Technology.
He was preceded in death by parents, Phillip and Alberta; brother; Phillip Brake; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Girlie McGraw; brother-in-law, Butch McGraw; and sister-in-law, Kathy Matejcek.
Ned is survived by wife of 40 years, Mary; children, Erik Brake of Arkansas and Melissa Arvin and husband Raymond of Owensville; grandsons, Braxton Alan and Lane Phillip Johnson; sister, Jerene Dunn of Alto Pass, Ill.; sisters-in law, Sharon McGraw of Steelville, Vicki McGraw of Owensville; Peggy O’ Neal and husband Jim and Christine Brake all of Bourbon; and son-in-law, William Johnson of Owensville.
Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 20, from 9–11 a.m., at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with funeral services following at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tina Lawrence officiating. Cremation will follow.
