Nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Gerald area in the last seven days. These include four men ages 85, 77, 27 and 66. Five women ages 84, 30, 73, 60, and 35 are part of that total. The 60-year-woman has since been reported as a recovered case. In addition, a 52-year-old female previously reported as positive remains an active case.
The death of a 66 year-old woman from New Haven was reported Oct. 6. This brings the death toll in the county to 33 according to state statistics or 31 if you look at reports from the county.
The Republican called Presiding Commissioner Tim Brinker three times asking for an explanation for the differing totals. Brinker did not respond to any of the three voicemails left for him.
53 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Franklin County Saturday, Oct. 9, setting a new high. There were 189 or 207—again differing totals—new cases reported in the county in the last seven days.
At least 20 county residents are hospitalized with virus. There are 26 patients in long term care facilities who have tested positive.
