On what would have been the final scheduled day for 2019-20 classes for the Gasconade County R-2 School District, a May 20 celebration of all things surrealistic about the novel coronavirus pandemic took place through the streets of Owensville and Rosebud. Teachers and staff from Owensville Elementary and Owensville Middle School paraded from the schools’ campus through Owensville and then to Rosebud with signs and decorations congratulating students moving on up to the middle school, those entering high school or those still in the elementary building. Families reciprocated with signs of their own, thanking their children’s teachers, or just telling them they missed them. Classes were halted for in-school attendance March 18.
