With fall sports now officially in the books at Owensville High School, several student-athletes excelled not only on the field but in the classroom as well.

OHS makes the grade

With fall sports now officially in the books at Owensville High School, several student-athletes excelled not only on the field but in the classroom as well.

Recognized by the Four Rivers Conference (FRC), athletes had to earn a varsity letter in addition to maintaining a 3.6 grade-point average during their respective season to earn Academic All-FRC honors.

Nathan Cabot’s Owensville Dutchmen football team led the way with 12 players being recognized.

They included Derek Brandt, Dominic Grigaitis, Austin Lowder, Alex Pack, Austin Long, Charlie Whelan, Blake Elliott, Hayden Shoemaker, Logan Bailey, Connor Fisher, Jaden Gerlemann and Landon Kramme.

Also in double digits were Jamie Ridenhour’s Dutchgirl volleyball team with 10 honorees.

Players earning Academic All-FRC in volleyball included Addison Menz, Payton Boyd, Drew Copeland, Josie Gerlemann, Kylie Kitchen, Molly Wnuk, Anna Heidbrink, Keira Hendrix, Kyla Hendrix and Olivia Vandegriffe.

OHS Cross Country and Dutchgirl softball each had eight athletes recognized.

Diamond Dutchgirls recognized included Kate Blankenship, Alison Daniels, Emma Daniels, Anna Finley, Layni Heidbreder, Hannah Nelson, Leah Reed and Addison Wright.

Cross country runners honored were Gabe Soest, Freddy Zheng, Ilene Limberg, Kyah Weirich, Abbie Gibson, Lauren Kandlbinder, Saylor Richardson and Hayden Loeb.

Raquel Bunton’s OHS football cheerleaders had four earn Academic All-FRC recognition in Arissa Huff, Emily Marquez, Ahna Rasmussen and Josie Wilka.

Those also earning Academic All-State honors will also be recognized when that information  becomes available.
