Looking to add to their 39-35 victory over Hermann’s Bearcats two nights earlier, Cullen VanLeer’s Dutchmen looked to make it back-to-back wins over FRC and Highway 100 foes.
Tied at 9-9 after one quarter, Owensville outscored New Haven 14-4 in the second quarter to take a 23-13 halftime lead.
Keeping their lead around 10 points throughout the second half, the Dutchmen were able to complete the doubleheader sweep with a 53-44 victory over the visiting Shamrocks.
Helping the Dutchmen tie the Shamrocks after one quarter, Will Lauth and Bryce Payne each hit a 3-pointer to pace OHS in first-quarter scoring.
Second-quarter action saw Garrett Crosby and Payne score four points apiece helping the Dutchmen to a double-digit halftime lead.
Edged 14-13 to open the second half by the Shamrocks, OHS still had a 36-27 lead over New Haven with eight minutes of basketball to play.
