Opening their track season back on Tuesday, March 25, Matt Candrl’s Owensville High School (OHS) Dutchmen and Dutchgirls got an early preview of the site of their Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 3 Sectional Track meet during the Montgomery County Early Invite at Montgomery County High School.

Candrl’s Dutchgirls placed second as a team with 103.5 points behind Washington’s 179 points while the Dutchmen took third as a team with 91 points behind New Bloomfield (121.5) and Washington (148.5).

Winning three events at MCHS, Owensville was led by senior Ilene Limberg who posted first-place times of 2:31.55 in the girls 800-meter run and 5:18.88 in the girls 1600m run.

Hannah Gehlert also scored team points in the girls 800m run with a sixth-place time of 2:52.71.

Ella Davidson (18th, 3:20.98) and Cylee Reed (19th), also ran two laps around the track for the Dutchgirls in the girl 800m run.

Abbie Gibson (3rd, 5:59.19) and Gehlert (6th, 6:05.62) also picked up Dutchgirl team points in the girls mile.

Gibson added a second-place time of 12:37.92 in the girls 3200m run to her third-place mile time.

Emma-lee Wehmeyer won the girls 100m hurdles in a time of 17.24 while also placing fourth in the girls 300m hurdles with a time of 56.00.

Elaina Lebish posted ninth-place times of 20.52 in the 100m hurdles and 1:01.84 in the 300m hurdles.

Wehmeyer also sprinted to a third-place time of 13.93 in the girls 100m dash.

Abbey Quilacio led four Dutchgirls in the top 18 of the girls 200m dash with a 10th-place time of 30.58.

Following Quilacio were Lily Sample (11th, 30.68), Elizabeth Adams (16th, 32.43) and Kabren Kelley (18th, 32.78).

Pacing the Dutchgirl relay teams with a third-place time of 55.04 in the girls 4x100m relay was the OHS foursome of Wehmeyer, Adams, Sample and Quilacio.

Also sprinting to 8th place in the 4x100m relay with a time of 1:02.14 was the Dutchgirl quartet of Leola Hamann, Autumn Holoway, Lebish and Kelley.

Placing eighth in the girls 4x400m relay with a time of 4:48.08 was the Dutchgirl squad of Cameron Nowack, Limberg, Lebish and Gehlert.

Taking fourth in the girls 4x800m relay in 11:48.08 was the orange and black foursome of Gehlert, Gibson, Davidson and Reed.

Halle Engelbrecht led three Dutchgirls in the top seven of the girls high jump with a clearing height of 1.40m.

Sample (4th, 1.35m) and Kelley (7th, 1.25m) also scored Dutchgirl team points in the girls high jump.

Quilacio racked up two team points in the girls pole vault for OHS clearing 2.15m.

Nowack leaped to a second-place mark of 4.69m in the girls long jump.

Brianna Beckerman just missed scoring team points for Owensville in the girls shot put with a ninth-place throw of 8.28m.

Also throwing for OHS in the girls shot put were Kiana Wehmeyer (16th, 7.26m), Lexis Manning (7.26m) and Zynietra Sharp (23rd, 5.84m).

Throwing his way to 26 points, Eli Graham paced the Dutchmen track team at Montgomery County by winning the boys discus with a throw of 44.54m while also placing second in the boys shot put (13.22m) and boys javelin (40.78m).

Following Eli Graham for OHS in the boys javelin were Brandon Graham (10th, 34.36m), Kien Bayless (14th, 31.90m) and Cael Walker (30.12m).

Andrew Budnik also placed 24th in the boys discus with a mark of 25.26m for the Dutchmen.

Dutchmen sophomore distance runner Zach Holtmeyer also left Montgomery County with silver posting a second-place time of 4:44.94 in the boys 1600m run.

He also posted a third-place time of 2:07.23 in the boys 800m run.

Also taking two laps for OHS in the boys 800m run were Tristan Strothkamp (6th, 2:15.39), Ty Price (16th, 2:36.41) and Dominick Eikermann (22nd, 3:02.01).

Making up half of the top eight in the boys 3200m run for Owensville were Drake Dietrich (3rd, 11:37.20), Cristopher Reyes (5th, 11:41.12) and Kyle Bollman (8th, 12:33.04).

Landon Losch (2nd, 16.68) and Charlie Katsov (10th, 19.62) placed in the top 10 of the boys 110m hurdles.

Losch also posted a seventh-place time of 46.53 in the boys 300m hurdles locking up two team points for the Dutchmen.

Pacing OHS’ Dutchmen in the relay races was the boys 4x400m relay team of Steven Buddemeyer, Ricardo Marquez, Losch and Holtmeyer with a fourth-place time of 3:56.35.

Also taking sixth in the event was the OHS team of Connor Wellman, Braden Perkins, Strothkamp and Price in an eighth-place time of 4:07.76.

Placing fifth in the boys 4x100m relay for OHS in 48.34 was the team of Liam Rasmussen, Wellman, Katsov and Losch.

Also taking fifth place in the boys 4x200m relay was the OHS team of Coleton Connor, Logan Valley, Buddemeyer and Marquez in a time of 1:46.38.

Kylen Menz (16th, 1.50m) and Maddix Lebish (18th, 1.50m) posted their best finishes at Montgomery County for the orange and black in the boys high jump.

Marquez (3rd, 3.35m) and Valley (5th, 3.20m) both placed in the top five of the boys pole vault for the Dutchmen.

Jayden Stewart narrowly missed scoring a team point for the Dutchmen with a ninth-place leap of 10.40m in the boys triple jump. Tyler Menz also placed 18th with a mark of 9.48m for OHS in the boys triple jump.

Placing third as a team with 91 points at Montgomery County, Owensville’s Dutchmen finished behind Washington (148.5) and New Bloomfield (121.5).

OHS hosted their annual open meet last night (Tuesday) at Dutchmen Field and will compete next Tuesday during the annual Union Relays at Union High School’s E.A. Stierberger Stadium.
