In spite of not being able to defend their district title from a year ago, that did not stop a trio of Owensville Dutchgirl volleyball players from earning postseason honors.
Following voting amongst Four Rivers Conference (FRC) and Class 3, District 8 volleyball coaches, a trio of Jamie Ridenhour’s varsity Dutchgirl volleyball players were selected to their respective teams.
Senior Kyla Hendrix was an All-FRC Honorable Mention selection in addition to an All-District First Team pick during her senior season.
Leading the team with 179 kills, Hendrix recorded a season-high 13 kills against Capital City. She also recorded a season-high 21 blocks against the Lady Cavaliers.
In the serving department, Hendrix served up a season-high five aces against St. James late in the season.
Finishing with 211 digs, Hendrix put up a season-high 15 in matches against Steelville and New Haven.
Second on the team with 252 assists, Hendrix dished out a season-high 20 of them against Steelville.
Junior Josie Gerlemann also earned multiple postseason honors being named to the All-FRC Honorable Mention and All-District Second Teams.
Second on the team with 153 kills, Gerlemann amassed a season-best 11 in matches against Rolla and Southern Boone.
Gerlemann served up a season-high four aces in matches against New Haven and Pacific.
Leading the team with 84 blocks, Gerlemann had a season-high seven in matches against Belle, Rolla and Pacific.
She also had a season-high nine digs against Union to go with a season-best two assists against Pacific.
Senior Olivia Vandegriffe rounds out the award-winning Dutchgirl volleyball trio as an All-FRC Honorable Mention nod.
Leading the team with 489 digs, Vandegriffe posted an eye-popping 45 digs in her final regular-season match against Pacific.
Serving up 12 aces, Vandegriffe posted a season-high of four in the second match of the season against Capital City.
She also finished her senior season with nine kills and six assists.
