OHS winter seniors get their turn

By the time this coming Friday rolls around, all of the Owensville High School winter senior student-athletes will have been recognized.

It began this past Friday with Dustin Howard’s OHS wrestlers being recognized between duals of their tri-meet against Potosi’s Trojans and Sullivan Eagles.

Senior wrestlers competing for Coach Howard this winter include Haven Sanders, Dakota Martin and Kolby Jahnsen.

Winning by forfeit against Potosi at 195 pounds, Martin only needed :19 to pin Sullivan’s Jacob Patton to go 2-0 on senior night.

Sanders also won both her matches winning by forfeit against Potosi in addition to defeating Sullivan’s Loghan Bogert by fall in 1:43 at 151 pounds.

Jahnsen went 1-1 on senior night pinning Potosi’s Steven Riddell in :45 before dropping a 14-8 decision to Sullivan’s Colton Brendel at 145 pounds.

This Friday night, seniors on the dance team, cheerleading squad and both OHS basketball teams will be recognized between games of a varsity doubleheader against Linn starting at 5 p.m., with the girls game.

Dutchgirl basketball seniors under head coach Ryan Flanagan include Kate Angell, Katelyn Landolt and Anna Skornia while Dutchmen basketball seniors  under first-year head coach Cullen VanLeer include Zaid Epstein, T.C. Fisher, Tyler Heidbrink and Macen Blankenship.

Basketball cheerleading seniors under Raquel Bunton include Julianna Bayless, Gabby Bunners, Sydney Silvers, Grace McFalls and Haley Coello.

Kelly Smith’s dance team has a pair of seniors in Keirstin McCormick and Julianna Watkins.
