Sweeping Hermann at home in their season opener last Monday night, OMS Dutchgirl basketball looked to sweep their way to a 2-0 start last Tuesday on the road in Sullivan.

First up was the seventh-grade contest between Terra Heidle’s Dutchgirls and the host Lady Eagles.

Holding Sullivan without a field goal in the first half, Heidle’s seventh-graders moved to 2-0 on the young season doubling up the Lady Eagles 22-11.

Alison Gregory paced Owensville with three first-half points before Lily Barker scored all eight of her points in the third quarter.

Gregory also tied Barker for game-high scoring honors with eight points.

Also in the scoring column for OMS were Jenna Breedlove with three points, Cailin Floyd with two points and Clara Julius with a third-quarter free throw for one point.

Looking to complete the sweep, Ryan Flanagan’s eighth-grade Dutchgirls next hit the court against Sullivan.

Limiting the Lady Eagles to four first-half points, Owensville went on to complete the doubleheader sweep with a 48-7 victory.

Only scoring six points in their season-opener against Hermann, Alison Daniels fired in a game-high 22 points for the Dutchgirls. Camryn Caldwell made it a double-figure duo finishing with 10 points.

Maddy Lewis just missed double digits scoring seven of her nine points in the second quarter.

Lily Reed added four points to go along with two points each from Kaydin Carr and Brynn Wright.

Addison Menz rounded out the Dutchgirl scoring with a first-quarter free throw for one point.

Throughout this week, Heidle’s seventh-grade Dutchgirl will compete in the Hermann Tournament while the eighth-grade Dutchgirls will compete in the Tom Todd Tournament at Washington Middle School’s Jim Perry Gym.

Monday night in Washington, Flanagan’s eighth-grade Dutchgirls posted a 63-28 victory over the host Lady Blue Jays. They will play Hermann tonight (Wednesday) at 7:30 p.m., in the championship semifinals.

Heidle’s seventh-grade Dutchgirls opened the Hermann Tournament last night (Tuesday) against Union’s Lady Wildcats.

A complete recap of tournament action in Hermann and Washington will be in next week’s Republican.
