Declaration for candidacy filing for the April 6 election opened Dec. 15, and will remain open until Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 5 p.m.

Annette Justus filed as a candidate for mayor last week.  According to Melissa Bauer, deputy city clerk, no one else has filed for city office. In addition to the mayoral seat, the city will also elect a new alderman in both Wards 1 and 2. All three are for two-terms.

Pat Hickman, secretary of the Gerald-Rosebud Fire Protection District reports that there has been only one person for file for a seat on that board. Nick Grube, incumbent, filed his intentions last week to run for another six-year term.

The Gerald Area Ambulance District needs two new directors. Sub-District 2 covers the city of Gerald. Gary Koepke currently serves as that district’s director. While Koepke has not filed for the seat he holds, Otis
Schulte has according to Diane Meyer, district chief. Schulte, 105 Keagan Place, filed as a candidate this week.

Last week, Amanda Miles filed for the Sub-District 5 seat currently held by Diane Angell. Angell has indicated she will not run again. Sub-District 5 covers the area south of Gerald.
