Cost overruns were minimal — less than 3 percent — on the city of Owensville’s new police station and emergency management director’s office. Lawlor Construction won in a 2020 competitive bidding process for the $1,112,900 project which was completed this summer for $1,156,205.06 — $33,305 over bid price. The 2.88 percent increase over the bid award was attributed largely to higher lumber costs and upgrades to block, the electrical and data systems, and finish details. Police are working out of the building and host an open house from 8 a.m. to noon on Monday, Oct. 25. Owensville Chamber of Commerce officials will conduct a ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:15 and the public is invited.
