Orville “Gene” Eugene Oliver, 84, Bland, passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 7, 1935, to Norman and Elsie (Collins) Oliver, in Schuyler County.

He was united in marriage to Wilma Blessing, Sept. 4, 2004, in Rocheport in the tunnel on the Katy Trail.

Gene was a 1953 graduate of Queen City High School. Following high school he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Downing Christian Church and was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic for Howard Construction in Sedalia. He was Caterpillar certified and also worked at American Wood Fibers out of the state of Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by parents, Norman and Elsie; brother, Charles Oliver; and sisters, Mary White and Anne Dufur.

He is survived by wife, Wilma; sons, Brad Oliver of Downing and Bill Collis and wife Christine of Minden, Iowa; siblings, Jack Oliver and wife Maudie of Downing, James Oliver and wife Lynn of Kirksville, Gerald Oliver and wife Cheryl of Worthington, Joyce Abdenhalden of Sullivan, Ill., and Rob Oliver and wife Glenda, Patty Sparks and husband Mike and Linda Baker, all of Queen City; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Private family services are planned at a later date. Memorial contributions suggested to Downing Christian Church.
