Owensville city staff will apparently not be charging late fees, or making disconnections to water services due to the coronavirus pandemic.
City Clerk Bobbi Limberg said the outgoing administrator, Brian Samples, told them after the rescheduled March 23 meeting the city would suspend charging late fees or disconnecting services for the March billing period. Board of Aldermen members had discussed the proposal briefly that night but never took any formal action.
Aldermen had been discussing whether or not home inspections should continue, or be put on hiatus, or if fees should be waived during the coronavirus situation. By consensus, they agreed to continue the inspections.
There was a brief discussion on the need for water services to facilitate cleanliness during the virus threat. However, there was never a motion or a vote recorded.
Limberg said Samples told staff to hold off on disconnections and assessing fees before he turned in his notice of resignation and left town.
