Owensville Dutchgirl soccer fans will not have to travel far to see one of their former players continue her playing career.

2022 Owensville High School graduate Paige Loyd recently signed her letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic pursuits as a member of the East Central College (ECC) Lady Falcon Soccer Team.

Serving as the team’s goal keeper the majority of the past two seasons, Loyd racked up 14 victories earning seven each during her junior and season campaigns.

Her first victory in goal came during a 3-0 shutout of Fatima’s Lady Comets back on March 19, 2021. She only needed to make three saves for the first clean sheet of her high school career.

Moving into April of her junior season, Loyd recorded back-to-back shutouts of Dixon (3-0) and Wright City (8-0) respectively on April 8 and April 12.

Loyd then matched her season high of nine saves while recording her fourth shutout of the season following a 1-0 victory over Battle High School’s (Columbia) Lady Spartans.

Moving into May of her junior season, Loyd added two more shutouts to her list.

Turning back 11 St. James shots, Loyd earned her fifth shutout of the season following a 7-0 victory.

Opening the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 2, District 4 Tournament in Mexico, Loyd and her Dutchgirl teammates took on Fulton’s Lady Hornets.

Also stopping nine shots during that match, Loyd posted her sixth shutout of the 2021 season following a 2-0 win over the Lady Hornets.

Loyd recorded a season-high 17 saves during a 2-1 loss to Sullivan’s Lady Eagles during the championship match of the Owensville Girls Soccer Tournament.

During her recently completed senior year, Loyd started her final season of high school girls soccer just like her junior campaign.

Opening against Fatima again, Loyd stopped five shots en route to a 5-0 shutout of the Lady Comets.

In spite of a shoulder injury sidelining her for over two weeks, Loyd managed to match her career high in saves with 17 on two occasions against St. Clair and Sullivan.

In the week prior to their annual home tournament, Loyd stopped six St. James shots during a 5-1 victory over the Lady Tigers snapping an overall four-match losing streak.

A day after defeating St. James, Loyd only needed to turn away two shots during a 7-0 shutout of Belle’s Lady Tigers on Friday, April 22.

Entering their home tournament, Loyd helped the Dutchgirls with a pair of shutouts guiding them into the championship match defeating Fatima 1-0 and St. James 8-0.

Opening the May portion of her senior season, Loyd set a new career high with 21 saves despite an 8-0 loss to St. Clair.

After the loss to the Lady Bulldogs, Loyd added two more shutouts to her total following a 5-0 victory over Crocker and a 7-0 win over St. James.

Fans of Paige Loyd will have four potential chances to see her in a Lady Falcon uniform during the month of August.

ECC opens their season on Tuesday, Aug. 23 against John Wood Community College at 11 a.m., before facing Columbia State on Friday, Aug. 26 at 3 p.m.

Lincoln Trail College will come to ECC on Saturday, Aug. 27 for a noon showdown before the Lady Falcons face Mineral Area College on Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 2 p.m.
