Parks, golf course clubhouse, bathrooms open for regular use

Based on the Phase 2 announcement Thursday by Gov. Mike Parson for the state’s Show-Me Strong Recovery Plan, “amenity closures within the Owensville Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) park system and golf course modified operations have been lifted.”

Angela Lairmore, director of parks and recreation for the city, received formal approval Monday from the city’s Board of Aldermen to allow full use of all playground structures, fitness equipment, restrooms, water fountains and athletic courts/fields as of today (Wednesday).

Users of park areas and facilities are cautioned that these facilities and equipment “are not being monitored for contamination of COVID-19” and “park guests use at their own risk,” Lairmore noted in a press release.

“While visiting any area of the park system, it is imperative to continue to practice proper social distancing with a minimum of 6 feet from other persons at all times, share the trail and warn other trail users of presence and passing, bring own hand sanitizer and water, practice good hygiene and do not use parks, trails, campground or golf course if not feeling well or exhibiting symptoms,” said Lairmore in a release issued Tuesday.

The city will also now begin accepting reservations on pavilions at Buschmann, Luster, Memorial and Winter parks.
