Paul Winfred Robertson, 91, passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, at the Cedar Pointe nursing home in Rolla.

He was born Feb. 24, 1931, to Fred and Vica Robertson near Rensselaer.

He was baptized into Christ in 1946 and became a member of the Glenwood Christian Church. He graduated from Lancaster High School in Schuyler County, in 1949. His teenage years were spent helping with the family farming activities. He was drafted into the U.S. Marines in 1952 and later received a medical discharge.

Paul worked as a railroad lineman before marrying Marilyn Morey of London Mills, Ill., at the Coal Creek Bible Church on Sunday, Jan. 23, 1955. They lived in Des Moines, Iowa, where Paul worked for several years as an assembly worker for an aircraft manufacturer. In 1958, they moved to Cuba, Ill., where for nearly 20 years Paul was the owner/operator of the Cuba Standard station and then Robertson’s Skelly service station. Later, Paul retired from Freeman United Coal Mining after working for them as a mechanic for several years.

In his younger years, he was known for his interest and ability to make toys and repair things. He became an excellent mechanic and his passion for fixing and repairing machines and engines served him well in his years as a service station operator. Even in his retirement years, his friends and neighbors often called on him to do repairs on their vehicles and tractors. Paul retired in 1995 and moved to a small farm near Vienna, close to his brother Don, where he enjoyed raising goats.

Paul was preceded in death by parents Fred and Vica Robertson of Memphis.

Paul is survived by former wife Marilyn Grace of Banner, Ill.; sons Nathan of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Dennis of London Mills, Ill., Steve, wife Stacy and children Nora and Kaelyn of Sherwood, Ore., and Mark and children Reece and Ryan of Deer Creek, Ill.; and brothers Donald and wife Linda of Rolla and John and wife Alice of Casper, Wyo.
